Barberini Palace: Baroque power and ceiling drama
Inside, the atmosphere is grand. Three floors contain paintings by Raphael, Caravaggio, Holbein, and Canaletto, as well as a theatrical ceiling fresco by Pietro da Cortona, considered among Rome’s finest works.
Galleria Corsini: the quieter, collector’s Rome
Visiting Corsini feels like entering a royal home. The palace dates from the early 1500s and was once the residence of Queen Christina of Sweden in Rome. Look for works by Beato Angelico, Rubens, and Guido Reni.
